La alpaca, del quechua allpaqa , es uno de los animales representativos de los Andes peruanos y su lana es de las más preciadas del mundo.

La lana de alpaca es suave al tacto y tiene un alto poder de higroscopicidad, es decir, absorbe la humedad ambiental entre un 10% a 15%, no afectando su aspecto. Asimismo, mantiene la temperatura corporal, independientemente de lo que ocurra en el medio ambiente.
